The Big Show on AM 1430 Wish List
Monday 05-18-2009 5:16pm CT

Summer… The worst word in any Oklahoma sports fan’s vocabulary. Three grueling months of triple digit temperatures without the NFL, without the Sooners, Cowboys, or Golden Hurricanes; How can a sports fan survive until the first weekend of football? Maybe you want to do some yard work, write a romance novel, or even spend time with your kids. Well before you waste your time doing something drastic, the members of Tulsa Sports Authority 1430 have assembled the Big Show “Wish List.”

Chris, Pop and DK have each selected seven of the greatest individuals in recorded history and have until mid August to get them to do an interview on the Big Show. To make it even more interesting, they made it a competition with the losers forced to perform some sort of demeaning public humiliation. The scoring system goes as follows; 5 points for each guest that appears on the Big Show with 25 points going to the Wish List 5 Star Recruit. A Five Star is someone of incredible significance, think Abraham Lincoln, Adrian Peterson, or Optimus Prime.

Listen in to the Big Show on 1430 the Buzz and let the Wish List keep yourself from suffering sports talk withdrawal.

Five Star Recruit: Vince Vaughn

I hope everyone likes the sports updates that I've done. I know I sound a little unenthusiastic, even to the point where as one listener said I sound like I'm "selling insurance." Today I promise they will sound really exciting, like fire or flood insurance.

OU legend Wayman Tisdale passed away today, after his battle with cancer. I'm too young to have seen firsthand Wayman dominate for the Sooners in the glory days of billyball back in the eighties, but I don't think I could name a more dynamic person, likable guy, or better bass guitarist than Mr. Tisdale. He will be greatly missed.

If I was a Laker fan, I'd be a little concerned from what LA has done the last few nights. Maybe they just don't take Houston seriously but it's pretty disappointing to start off a potential clinching game of a playoff series down 17-1. They're still the most talented team and I still think they'll close Houston out in LA, but Denver should look awfully scary right now to Kobe.

Be sure to tune in this afternoon to the Big Show and stop by next week for the Big Show "Wish List.

Yesterday I got to manage the last few innings of the Driller game. My work consisted of pushing a button, silencing the studio at Driller Stadium, and then bring the studio sound back up after the commercial break. It seems easy enough but I did play two commercials over one another. I hope it sounded ok.

Last night the NBA playoff once again reigned supreme. Boston stole a win from an Orlando team that couldn't get the ball to Dwight Howard down the stretch. Essentially the Magic are a Big Baby 21 footer on Sunday and a blown 10 point lead on Tuesday from the Eastern Conference finals. Out west the Lakers looked pretty good last night. If they can maintain that level of play consistently, it's going to be difficult for anyone to stop Kobe from his fourth NBA Championship. On a baseball side-note, my beloved Yankees lost once again to Roy Halladay. I'm not one to panic on May 13th, but its been a disappointing start for the Bronx Bombers. Maybe A-Rod will save them...

The Big Show is going to be its usual sports radio excellence this afternoon, so listen in.
